Despite its illegal status in many jurisdictions, cannabis is a medically helpful plant. Mounting scientific evidence shows that the most well-known cannabinoids, Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and the endocannabinoid system work together to support your body’s health and wellness.

This is because these naturally occurring substances stimulate the body’s endocannabinoid system, which keeps your body in balance, even if the external environment is in flux.

The Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system is the most extensive biological system of receptors in your body. It affects everything: sleep, mood, appetite, pain, inflammation, and reproduction.

The endocannabinoid system also referred to as the ECS, is found throughout your body, including your brain, brainstem, nervous system, and vital organs. This crucial biological system produces endocannabinoids and reacts with cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant when consumed, like CBD and THC.

When your endocannabinoid system is not functioning well, your health deteriorates.

Science shows that the endocannabinoid system is poorly regulated in almost every pathological condition, like diabetes, depression, psoriasis, and cancer. But it’s possible to bring balance back to your ECS so you can regain your health or prevent further decline.

One way to regain balance in your body is to consume CBD and/or THC. When these cannabinoids are in your body, they bind to the CB1 or CB2 receptors found in the endocannabinoid system. Your ECS then signals to the different parts of your body to start a chain reaction that will lead to health and wellness.
